Meet Our Producers
The Davidson Family

Jim Davidson got his start in agriculture in 1944, when at age 13 he pastured his first milk cow, Mable, on Second Avenue in what is now downtown Smithers. Back then, there were only two other milk producers in the area. With a limited market, Jim set his price at 10 cents a quart, delivered to the customer’s door.
Sixty-four years later the Davidson tradition continues: Jim and his sons John and Paul are still selling milk as owners and operators of Canyon Creek Farm. In addition to producing over 1,000 litres of milk per day, the Davidsons also run a 110-head commercial beef operation.
It’s no longer a seller’s market and the Davidsons admit they’ve become price-takers instead of price-makers. But they say the Northwest Premium Meat Cooperative will help matters.
